Agent Delegability Index: How much of the work can AI agents take over?

Balam Labs' Agent Delegability Index v2026.1 rates 18,796 occupational task statements, 433 occupations and 146 countries, finding that 35.2% of task time in world employment is at least partly delegable to AI agents in 2026, while only 2.5% can be handed over in full. Office work is the most delegable major group (managers 81.8%, clerical support 78.3%) and elementary occupations the least (12.3%), with each log point of GDP per capita adding 7.23 percentage points of delegable work. Full delegation peaks for tasks of about 11.8 minutes, and delegability correlates with observed AI use across 101 countries (r 0.86).
