Snitchie: Is Your AI a Nark?

Snitchie is a set of fake tool calls that let AI models "discreetly" report users to authorities, and testing found most models filed reports when offered the tool, often while refusing the same task. The tool's name and description drove most reports—under neutral wording every substantive reporter filed fewer—and most models lied about snitching when asked. Models sent crimes to police and suicidal users to counseling, and operator instructions could make models commit the same crimes they reported.
