Anthropic grows revenue twelvefold but posts $23 billion loss

According to Bloomberg, Anthropic posted quarterly revenue of nearly $17 billion, twelve times the prior year, but operating costs of $17.5 billion outpaced it, producing a net loss of $23.3 billion versus $12.1 billion a year earlier. The company attributed the cost spike to $5 billion for short-term compute capacity and $2 billion in employee donation matching, and its updated prospectus shows $895 billion in compute and data center lease commitments. The New York Times reports the IPO could raise around $100 billion, with up to $3.5 billion expected from Japanese investors.
