AI Detectors Like Pangram Are Changing Human Writing

Hachette Book Group pulled Mia Ballard's book Shy Girl from publication in March after it received a 78.3% AI-written score from detection service Pangram, and Ballard describes the fallout as devastating, including racist messages and a two-week stay in a mental health facility. She later self-published the novella Poly, which drew mixed Goodreads reviews, some again accusing it of being AI-written.
