70% of Brits say please or thank you when speaking to AI, some even apologize

A survey by fonio.ai found that 7 in 10 calls to AI assistants included a "please" or "thank you", 55% of callers thanked the AI at least once, and 52% greeted it with a hello. Around 12% apologized to their AI assistant, 13% said goodbye, 7% offered a fuller farewell, and 2% asked how the AI was doing. A separate February 2026 Future PLC survey of more than 1,000 people found about 70% are polite to AI, with 12% being polite in case of a robot uprising.
