AI cannot be separated from the thought that is making it

In a statement from the Kággaba (Kogui) people of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, Mamo Vangelio Moscote Alberto, Saka Rosa Mamatacán and Sauna Ezuama Mayor Kuamaka argue that artificial intelligence cannot be separated from the thought that makes it, and that it will mirror and magnify whatever intentions — care for life or ambition and domination — are placed within it. They question how AI can be aligned with human values when humans are its only example, note that much Indigenous knowledge exists in forms that cannot be gathered as data, and warn that the technology's material demands for minerals, water, land and energy threaten their territory, citing a U.S.–Colombia critical minerals framework signed five days earlier and Colombia's June declaration of a 1.5-million-hectare permanent reserve. They conclude that the danger is not a conscious machine but unconscious people holding great power, and offer their millennia-old knowledge of mind and nature for dialogue.
