World of Warcraft: Forever Is Already Overrun with AI Slop

Ahead of World of Warcraft: Forever's Wednesday release, game subreddits are flooded with AI-generated addons that copy longtime developers' work, and Warcraft Logs CEO Sildri Silentcrest says the site is changing its API and adding a paid commercial key in response. Addon creator plusmouse says AI versions of their designs and code have appeared, sometimes close enough to prompt copyright takedowns on Curseforge, and they made some GitHub repositories private to stop LLMs using their code. Silentcrest said Warcraft Logs now averages at least one commercial API request per day and that abuse has grown from a few of roughly 200 developers two years ago to about 1,000 of 10,000 today.
