AI agents hallucinate prices: LLM grounding with live data

Tests show that GPT-6 Luna and Claude Opus 5.5 each matched the live price for only 2 of 15 products from memory, and built-in web search improved exact matches but still produced wrong prices with source links on every run. The article argues that LLM grounding requires live data, a clear status when a check fails, and code rather than the model writing each price into the answer, and it builds a Python agent using Apify's E-commerce Scraping Tool to fetch prices from Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target and Shopify stores.
