ByteDance Seedream 5.0 Lite API

Introduction

Seedream 5.0 Lite is ByteDance’s multimodal image generation and editing model for reasoning-led visual creation, structured layouts, complex scenes, and practical everyday production. It is designed to understand the intention behind a request rather than only matching isolated prompt keywords.

On iCreat, the model supports text-to-image generation, reference-based creation, and image editing through one endpoint. Upload up to five reference images, choose 2K or 4K output, select PNG or JPG, and decide whether to add a watermark. Both resolutions cost $0.035 per image, making Seedream 5.0 Lite suitable for frequent creative work through the online Playground or the bytedance/seedream-5.0 API.

Key Features

Intent-aware image generation

Seedream 5.0 Lite uses stronger multimodal understanding and reasoning to interpret the intent behind complex or loosely written prompts. It can coordinate subjects, spatial relationships, text, styles, and scene logic more deliberately, helping users move from a rough creative idea to a clearer, more usable visual result with fewer prompt revisions.

Complex scenes and structured visuals

The model handles compositions with multiple subjects, attributes, labels, and layout requirements. It is suitable for posters, presentation graphics, product detail visuals, educational images, and information-led designs where colors, numbers, text, object placement, and visual hierarchy must remain organized inside one coherent image rather than drift across separate generations.

Reference-based creation and editing

Upload up to five reference images to guide a new composition, transfer a visual style, or edit an existing asset. Seedream 5.0 Lite can use references for products, people, environments, colors, and layouts while responding to natural-language changes and preserving unrelated areas more consistently when the instruction clearly defines what should remain unchanged.

Flexible 2K and 4K delivery

Seedream 5.0 Lite supports both 2K and 4K output at the same $0.035 price on iCreat. Users can also choose PNG or JPG and control whether a watermark is added, making the endpoint practical for web publishing, presentations, campaign drafts, high-resolution delivery, and workflows with different export requirements.

Low-cost everyday production

At $0.035 per image, Seedream 5.0 Lite is designed for frequent generation, editing, and creative iteration without a resolution-based price increase. The simple fixed rate makes budgeting easier for teams producing product scenes, social assets, posters, localized versions, visual explanations, and repeated campaign variations across routine commercial workflows.

How to Use

1. Choose your workflow

Enter a prompt without uploading an image for text-to-image generation. Upload one or more references when you want to guide a new composition, transfer a style, or edit an existing asset.

2. Describe the result

State the subject, scene, layout, text, visual style, and intended use. For editing, clearly separate what should change from the details that must remain unchanged.

3. Add reference images

Upload up to five references and explain each image’s role, such as product appearance, person, background, layout, color palette, or visual style.

4. Select output settings

Choose 2K or 4K, select PNG or JPG, and decide whether to add a watermark. Generate in the Playground or call the bytedance/seedream-5.0 API.

Pricing

Seedream 5.0 Lite uses one fixed per-image price for text-to-image generation, reference-based creation, and image editing.

Images Unit Price
1 Image $0.035

Both 2K and 4K use the same price, so 4K may offer better value when the workflow benefits from additional resolution or cropping space.

Use Cases

Posters and ad creatives

Create affordable posters, banners, and campaign visuals that combine short copy, products, people, and clear layout instructions for everyday marketing and promotional use.

Product and ecommerce visuals

Use product and scene references to create listing images, promotional backgrounds, packaging visuals, and commercial variations without arranging a new photoshoot for every asset.

Presentation and information graphics

Generate presentation covers, labeled diagrams, educational visuals, and structured summaries where text, icons, objects, and layout must communicate information clearly.

Reference-based style transfer

Apply the color, texture, lighting, or artistic direction of one reference to another image while keeping the main subject and intended composition recognizable.

Image editing and refresh work

Update backgrounds, lighting, props, focus, or visual styling in existing images, making older assets easier to reuse for new campaigns, seasons, and audiences.

High-resolution content production

Generate 4K assets for larger layouts, closer crops, presentations, and final delivery without paying more than the current 2K price on iCreat.

Prompt Tips

Describe the information structure. For posters, diagrams, or presentation graphics, specify the title, labels, object positions, reading order, and visual hierarchy.

Give each reference a purpose. Explain which image controls the subject, background, color palette, layout, or style instead of uploading several references without guidance.

Use direct editing instructions. State the requested change and the details that must remain untouched, especially for products, people, text, and branded assets.

Choose export settings before generating. Select PNG or JPG, decide whether a watermark is acceptable, and use 4K when the final asset needs more cropping or delivery space.

Notes

  • The current iCreat endpoint does not expose ByteDance’s online search capability, even though it is part of the underlying Seedream 5.0 Lite model.
  • The API defaults to adding a watermark unless watermark is explicitly set to false.
  • The five-image limit applies to the full reference set, and each uploaded image must be no larger than 10 MB.
  • The current endpoint supports only 2K and 4K output; both resolutions use the same unit price.

Nano Banana 2

Choose it when you need up to 11 references, ratio-based output control, and a broader everyday image production workflow.

GPT Image 2

Choose it for longer prompts, up to 16 references, exact output dimensions, and flexible Low, Medium, and High quality pricing.
